SnailX

Unwanted snails and hydra are often introduced accidentally through live plants, décor or transferred aquarium equipment. Once established, they can spread rapidly throughout the aquarium. Fish Science SnailX is designed to help prevent the introduction and development of nuisance snails and hydra while remaining safe for aquarium plants when used correctly.

Fish Science SnailX is a preventative freshwater aquarium treatment developed to help reduce the risk of introducing nuisance snails and hydra into aquarium systems.

Many unwanted hitchhikers enter aquariums hidden on live plants, hardscape or transferred decorations. While some snails may appear harmless initially, populations can quickly explode under favourable conditions, leading to unsightly glass coverage, excessive waste production and general maintenance issues. Hydra can also become problematic, particularly in shrimp aquariums and breeding setups.

SnailX is especially useful when introducing new plants into established aquariums. A preventative half-dose treatment during planting can help reduce contamination risks before unwanted organisms establish themselves within the aquarium ecosystem.

Importantly, SnailX does not damage aquarium plants, making it suitable for planted aquariums and aquascapes where maintaining plant health is essential.

Following treatment, a partial water change is recommended alongside the addition of Fish Science AquaBoost to support and replenish beneficial bacterial populations within the biological filtration system.
