Iron Boost

Iron is one of the most important nutrients in planted aquariums, directly influencing chlorophyll production, plant metabolism and vibrant colouration. Fish Science Iron Boost uses highly bioavailable ferrous gluconate to provide fast, efficient iron uptake for aquatic plants, helping support stronger growth, deeper greens and more intense reds in demanding planted aquariums.

Iron plays a critical role in aquatic plant health and is one of the key nutrients required for chlorophyll production and efficient photosynthesis. Without adequate iron availability, plants can quickly develop chlorosis, where leaves begin to yellow due to the loss of chlorophyll, eventually leading to tissue necrosis and poor growth.

Fish Science Iron Boost is formulated using ferrous gluconate, a highly bioavailable form of iron that is more readily absorbed by aquatic plants compared to some chemically bound iron sources such as EDTA-based formulations. This allows plants to access iron quickly and efficiently, helping improve nutrient uptake and overall plant performance.

The high concentration formula is especially beneficial for demanding red plant species such as Alternanthera reineckii, Rotala macrandra and Ludwigia arcuata, where iron availability is closely linked to the intensity of red pigmentation and carotenoid development. It also benefits a wide variety of green aquatic plants including Bacopa, Hygrophila, Limnophila, Pogostemon and Echinodorus species.

Iron uptake is closely connected to overall aquarium balance, including appropriate macronutrient availability (NPK), suitable lighting intensity and stable pH conditions. When combined with proper lighting and balanced fertilisation, Iron Boost helps maximise plant colouration, metabolism and healthy growth.
